GOSI BRDF Data

The data referred to in the following e-mail from Dr. Maria Nadal was measured using the Goniometric Optical Scatter Instrument (GOSI) at NIST. This is a laser-based device capable of measuring out-of-plane specular and diffuse reflectance at specific polarizations. This instrument was used to measure the grey paint sample at incident angles from +15° to +60° at 15° intervals. For each incident direction, an array of 30×30 reflected directions about the specular peak were recorded, covering between 10° and 30° in each direction. For most incident angles, two perpendicular polarizations were measured, parallel and transverse to the incident plane. For the 30° incident direction, a 45° incident polarization was also measured. All measurements were carried out at 532 nm.

This and other data will be made available directly from NIST at a later time.

The file format is columnar ASCII data with a header describing each field.

Hi Greg,

I've attached 9 ASCII files that contain out and in-plane measurements. A
brief description of the files is given below. All of the measurements were
done at 532 nm.

98101102: theta input = 15 deg.; theta scattering: 5 - 25 (30 steps)
               phi scattering = -30 - 30 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 0

98101103: theta input = 15 deg.; theta scattering = 5 - 25 (30 steps)
               phi scattering= -30 - 30 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 90

98101104: theta input = 30 deg.; theta scattering = 20 - 40 (30 steps)
               phi scattering= -20 - 20 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 0

98101105: theta input= 30 deg.; theta scattering = 20 - 40 (30 steps)
               phi scattering = -20 - 20 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 45

98101106: theta input= 30 deg.; theta scattering = 20 - 40 (30 steps)
               phi scattering = -20 - 20 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 90

98101200: theta input= 45 deg.; theta scattering= 35 - 55 (30 steps)
               phi scattering= -15 - 15 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 0

98101201: theta input= 45 deg.; theta scattering = 35 - 55 (30 steps)
               phi scattering = -15 - 15 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 90

98101202: theta input = 60 deg.; theta scattering= 50 - 70 (30 steps)
               phi scattering = -10 - 10 deg ( 30 steps); input polarization = 0

98101203: theta input= 60 deg.; theta scattering = 50 - 70 (30 steps)
